Ceres High boys tie for fourth place in league standings

Sameed Kahloon helped lead Ceres High’s varsity boys tennis team to a fourth-place finish in the WAC this season.

Ceres High’s varsity boys tennis team won one of three matches during the final week of the Western Athletic Conference regular season.

Ceres High topped host Beyer 6-2 on April 8 in Modesto.

The Bulldogs (7-7) and Patriots tied for fourth place in the WAC standings.

“They’ve come a long way from not knowing how to play tennis to the way they’re playing now,” head coach David Ortiz said.

Ceres High won five of six singles and one of two doubles matches against Beyer during the second meeting.

Sameed Kahloon prevailed 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 in No. 1 singles play.

Hassan Imran prevailed 6-1, 6-2 in No. 2 singles play.

Hamza Ikram prevailed 6-0, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.

Noah Zamora prevailed 6-4, 6-2 in No. 5 singles play.

Eduardo Ramirez prevailed 6-2, 6-1 in No. 6 singles play.

Taymour Aadil lost 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

Ian Saldana and Daniel Gonzales prevailed 4-6, 6-1, 10-5 in No. 2 doubles play.

Blake Barr and Andy Tan lost 6-4, 4-6, 10-6 in No. 1 doubles play.

Host Ceres High lost 9-0 to Mountain House on April 9.

Kahloon lost 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 singles play.

Imran lost 6-0, 6-2 in No. 2 singles play.

Aadil lost 6-1, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

Ikram lost 6-1, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.

Ramirez lost 6-1, 6-0 in No. 5 singles play.

Barr lost 6-0, 6-0 in No. 6 singles play.

Tan and Taylor Smith lost 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles play.

The Bulldogs lost the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches by default.

Ceres High fell 6-3 to visiting Grace Davis on Thursday.

Imran won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

Aadil won 12-10, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.

Ramirez won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.

Kahloon lost 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles.

Zamora lost 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5 singles play.

Barr and Tan lost 6-2, 1-6, 10-4 at No. 1 doubles.

Gonzalez and Smith lost 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

The Bulldogs lost the No. 4 singles and 3 doubles matches by default.
