Ceres High JV boys hoops squad shows improvement in defeat
Bulldogs finish 0-3 in Turlock

Ceres High School's junior-varsity boys basketball team compiled an 0-3 record at the Turlock tournament last week.

"We're getting better each game," Bulldogs head coach Abel Maestas said. "That's a positive."

Ceres High lost 41-31 to Pitman on Saturday.

Martin Reyes and Sebastian Arroyo led the Bulldogs in scoring with eight points apiece.

Cole Silva tallied four points.

Jaskirit Dosanjh and Jacob Martinez both contributed three points.

Harman Bansal added two points.

McNair High School buried 10 3-pointers during Friday's 61-24 rout of Ceres High.

Arroyo had a team-high nine points.

Dosanjh, Silva, Jonathan Garcia and Reyes chipped in with six, four, three and two points, respectively.

Host Turlock topped Ceres High 42-26 in the opening round on Thursday.

The visiting Bulldogs were limited to six points in the first half.

Bansal had 10 points.

Garcia and Xavier Mendoza added four and three points, respectively.

Ceres High will host a tournament at Cesar Chavez Jr. High this week. he Bulldogs will face Oakdale on Thursday (6:30 p.m.), Modesto High on Friday (8 p.m.) and Bear Creek on Saturday (3 p.m.). "I expect them to play hard," Maestas said.
