CHS boys outlast Hughson, lose to Gregori in non-league action
Bulldogs will play in Godinez tournament this week in Turlock

Ceres High's and Hughson's varsity boys basketball team's battled for 32 minutes.

The visiting Bulldogs pulled away for a 68-60 victory over the Huskies in non-conference play on Wednesday.

"We're getting better every day," Ceres High head coach Julio Marquez said. "That's a good thing."

Harman Chung led the Bulldogs with 21 points and 11 rebounds. He made 7 of 8 free throws.

Junior Garcia added 18 points, four rebounds and one assist off the bench. He converted 6 of 8 foul shots.

Dylan Canatsy totaled 14 points, six rebounds and two assists. He shot 67 percent (8 of 12) from the charity stripe.

Joshneil Sandhu collected six points, one assist and one rebound.
Angel Garcia tallied five points.

Abel Reyes had four points, four rebounds and three assists.

Nick Burt chipped in with four rebounds and three assists.

Ceres High outscored Hughson 45-42 in the opening half.

"We played a complete game," Marquez said. "Our defense was solid. We created a lot of turnovers."

Gregori got the best of Ceres High during their CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Foundation Game clash on Dec. 2 at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium. The Jaguars prevailed, 68-58.

Chung had a team-high 25 points in defeat.

Canatsy contributed seven points.

Reyes and Junior Garcia finished with six points apiece.

The Bulldogs (2-0) will compete in the Frank Godinez Tournament, Dec. 12-14.

Ceres High will face host Turlock in the opening round Thursday night. Tipoff slated for 7.

"Of course you want to win games," Marquez said. "But it's all about improving every day. I just want to see the guys compete."
