Three members of Ceres High School’s varsity boys water polo program earned all-league honors this fall, including Jeremy Kier, Brian Ayala and Nicholas Campbell.

Kier, a sophomore goalkeeper, was selected to the WAC Second Team.

He totaled 75 blocks.

“You have to have a special player in goal,” Dias said. “You can’t have fear. You have to have good reflexes and know how to anticipate. Jeremy’s one of those kids. He definitely has an edge to him. He’s aggressive. He’s not afraid of the ball.”

Ayala and Campbell were both honorable-mention picks.

Campbell, a freshman, had 35 goals.

“I knew right away he’d be a starter,” Dias said. “He did not play like a freshman. He had an edge coming in. He grew up around water polo.”

Ayala, a junior, collected 21 goals.

“He’s strong, determined and motivated,” Dias said. “He’s more serious than the average player. I like that about him.”
