CHS boys suffer first dual loss

Ceres High varsity boys swimmer Bobby Baranski took second in the 50 free and 100 free during Fridays 104-64 loss to WAC-rival El Capitan.

Ceres High's varsity boys swim team never posed a threat in losing 104-64 to El Capitan last week.

The previously-unbeaten Bulldogs (4-1) dropped to second place in the WAC dual-meet standings.

The Gauchos (6-0) remained unbeaten in league.

"El Capitan had a strong team," Ceres High coach Rebecca Sanders said. "Our boys took a lot of firsts, but El Cap took a lot of the middle places. They also had strong relays."

Ceres High had a host of individuals turn in standout performances.

Caleb Bishop placed first in the 100 back and second in the 200 IM.

Zachary Jones placed first in the 50 free and second in the 100 breast.

Erik Weststeyn placed first in the 100 fly and second in the 500 free.

Bobby Baranski placed second in the 50 free and 100 free.

Tristan Freitas-Scott placed third in the 100 free and fifth in the 50 free.

Logan Kier placed fourth in the 500 free and fifth in the 100 breast.

Timothy Campbell placed fourth in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 free.

Michael Barnes placed fifth in the 200 free and 100 back.

Nathan Stone placed fifth in the 100 fly.

Noah Rantz placed sixth in the 200 free and 100 breast.

Luis Perez placed sixth in the 100 back.

Ceres High's varsity girls swim team fell to 3-2 in the Western Athletic Conference dual-meet standings following last week's 105-65 loss to El Capitan.

"Our girls only took four firsts," Sanders said. "They were a big team with talent."

Bulldog Julia Pata placed first in the 200 free and 500 free against the Gauchos (6-0).

Annie Connors placed first in the 50 free and second in the 100 free.

Ciana Sather placed first in the 100 fly and second in the 100 back.

Kiera Brownlee placed second in the 200 IM and third in the 100 breast.

Taylore Bentley placed third in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 breast.

Kaitlyn Foster placed third in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 fly.

Lindsey Reedy placed fourth in the 200 free and fifth in the 100 free.

Arianne Amparo placed fifth in the 500 free.

Melissa Duarte placed fifth in the 200 IM.

Monae Decamera placed fifth in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 IM.

Jewelianna Chavez placed sixth in the 50 free and 100 breast.

Alissa Coker placed sixth in the 100 free.

Jocelyn Garcia placed sixth in the 500 free.

Savannah Jordan placed sixth in the 100 fly.

Jaeden Stutler placed sixth in the 100 back.
