Central Valley boys tennis standouts Osvaldo Cisneros, Silas Rodriguez, Avori Ortega and Roman Parodi traveled to Roseville last month to compete at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-II Doubles Tournament.

Cisneros teamed up with Rodriguez, while Ortega partnered with Parodi.

“You could tell they were nervous,” Hawks’ head coach Nimrat Chahal said. “It’s a bigger stage. They competed well. The effort was definitely there.”

Cisneros and Rodriguez lost 6-4, 6-3 to Vacaville’s Blake Burrell and Hakeem Haboush in the opening round on May 19 at Johnson Ranch.

“It was a winnable match,” Chahal said. “Both of the sets were pretty close.”

Ortega and Parodi suffered a 7-5, 6-1 loss while battling Vacaville’s Preston Fourmet and Lance Carlson in the first round.

Ortega and Parodi never recovered after squandering a 5-4 lead in the opening set.

“They played hard,” Chahal said. “They did the best they could. That’s all that matter.”

Cisneros, Rodriguez, Ortega and Parodi hadn’t played a match in two weeks leading up to the Division-II Doubles Tournament.

“Mentally, they were as ready as they could be,” Chahal said.

Cisneros and Rodriguez made history this spring becoming Central Valley’s first-ever boys conference doubles champions.

Cisneros and Rodriguez compiled a 4-0 record while teaming up at the Western Athletic Conference Tournament at Johansen High School.

“We’ve had (doubles) teams place second in the past,” Chahal said. “But this is the first time we won the tournament.”

Cisneros and Rodriguez rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 10-8 victory over Ortega and Parodi in the finals.

“They had a phenomenal tournament,” Chahal stated. “They were unseeded and beat not only the first seed but also the second and third seeds en route to winning the tournament. I think their resilience was a big reason they won. They had great communication throughout the tournament and in doubles it’s essential you and your partner are on the same page.”

Cisneros and Rodriguez enjoyed success while teaming up for the first time.

“They didn’t have a lot of experience playing together,” he added. “They meshed so well. They complemented each other. They’re both really great athletes. They communicate well. There aren’t a lot of weaknesses in their game.”

Ortega and Parodi won three matches on their way to a runner-up finish at the league finals.

Ortega and Parodi put up a fight in losing in three sets to Cisneros and Rodriguez during their championship matchup.

“They had a chance to win,” Chahal said. “It came down to two points. I wasn’t shocked to see them reach the finals. They did a really good job limiting mistakes and playing competitive points. They meshed well together.”

“They were our two best players throughout the year,” he added. “They’re great athletes. They track down every ball. That’s why they were able to get as far as they got.”

Cisneros, Rodriguez and Ortega will be lost to graduation.

Parodi, a junior, will fill an even bigger role on next year’s team.

Cisneros, Rodriguez, Ortega and Parodi helped lead Central Valley to new heights in 2026.

The Hawks didn’t lose a single match during the regular season.

Central Valley had a 13-0 overall record prior to having its unbeaten streak snapped by Pleasant Grove in the playoffs.

The Hawks claimed the WAC championship, their first league crown.

“There’s no replacing those guys (Cisneros, Rodriguez and Ortega),” Chahal said. “They had so much experience and worked so hard.”
