CV boys, girls place sixth at league meet

The Central California Conference staged its second varsity cluster meet of the season on Oct. 3 at the Lake Yosemite Recreation Area.

Central Valley’s boys squad totaled 166 points while finishing in sixth place during the seven-team competition.

Merced (19), Buhach Colony (50), Atwater (59), Golden Valley (125) and Patterson (138) took first, second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

El Capitan (187) was last.

Central Valley’s top placer was Christian Balderas.

The sophomore finished 10th with a time of 17 minutes, 10 seconds on the 3-mile course.

He bested 45 other runners, including Hawk teammates Hector Arvizu (36th, 19:08), Javier Cuevas Sanchez (39th, 19:31), Alejandro Gonzalez (40th, 19:32), Antonio Castillo (42nd, 19:45), Sabino Urrutia (44th, 20:01), Enrique Martinez (46th, 20:16), Patric Senesom (47th, 20:21), Emmanuel Mendoza (52nd, 20:39) and Michael De La Cruz (53rd, 20:52).

Central Valley’s girls squad (164) also placed sixth.

The Hawks topped El Capitan (202).

Atwater (34), Merced (46), Buhach Colony (62), Golden Valley (85) and Patterson (141) took first, second, third, fourth and fifth, respectively. 

Priscilla Garcia was Central Valley’s top runner.

Garcia (22:45) placed 24th in a field of 54.

Hawk teammates Vanessa Contreras (24:01), Kelsy Naranjo (24:24), Abigail Garcia (23:31), Guadalupe Gonzalez (24:51), Carolina Irizarry (25:04), Adriana Huaracha (25:30), Claudia Gomez (25:31), Aryanna Jimenez (25:39) finished 33rd, 37th, 38th, 40th, 42nd, 44th, 45th and 46th, respectively.
