CV, CHS swimmers suffer losses

Ceres High’s swim program dropped a pair of dual meets to host Mountain House last week.

Ceres High’s girls team tasted defeat for the first time this season as it was beaten 90-78 by the Mustangs on Friday.

“I knew it was going to be our most challenging meet,” Bulldogs’ head coach Kayla Himmist said. “We would have had a good chance to beat them if we had more numbers. It definitely played a factor.”

Ceres High fell to 5-1 in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

Mountain House improved to 4-2.

“Even though we didn’t win, the girls had some of their best times ever,” Himmist said. “I’m proud of them.”

Ally Feld placed first in the 200 IM (2:41.62) and 100 breast (1:23.52).

Allison McAdams placed first in the 50 free (27.55) and 100 free (1:01.00).

Katie Hensley placed first in the 500 free (6:21.11) and second in the 100 back (1:23.41).

Haille Degg placed second in the 200 free (2:50.70) and 100 breast (1:34.95).

Reagan Hensley placed second in the 100 fly (1:33.98) and third in the 100 back (1:29.87).

Jewell Stahl placed third in the 100 fly (1:34.96).

Jazzmin Suarez placed third in the 100 free (1:15.10) and fourth in the 50 free (32.00).

Emily Bringazi placed fourth in the 200 free (3:06.39) and fifth in the 100 back (1:40.34).

Denise Hinojosa placed fifth in the 100 fly (1:46.26) and 100 breast (1:46.76).

Berlin Kahl placed sixth in the 50 free (38.72).

Ceres High’s 400 free relay team of Katie Hensley, Jazzmin Suarez, Ally Feld and Allison McAdams placed first (4:25.80).

Ceres High’s 200 free relay team of Reagan Hensley, Emily Bringazi, Jewell Stahl and Berlin Kahl placed second (2:21.18).

Ceres High’s 200 medley relay team of Feld, McAdams, Katie Hensley and Reagan Hensley placed second (2:15.72).

Ceres High’s shorthanded boys team dropped to 2-4 in the WAC following last week’s 116-24 loss to undefeated Mountain House.

“They swim their hardest even though they know they’re going to lose (due to a lack of numbers),” Himmist said. “I’m really proud of them for that.”

The Bulldogs had just four individuals compete against the Mustangs.

Ryan Baranski placed first in the 100 free (57.84) and second in the 50 free (24.81).

Nick Campbell placed third in the 50 free (25.53).

Cruz Fee placed fourth in the 100 free (1:04.41).

Kenneth Arroyo placed fifth in the 50 free (28.61).

Ceres High’s 200 medley relay team of Campbell, Arroyo, Fee and Baranski placed second (2:07.52).

Ceres High’s 200 free relay team of Campbell, Fee, Baranski and Arroyo placed second (1:44.21).

Grace Davis sweeps CV

Central Valley’s girls swim team lost 94-49 at Grace Davis on March 26.

The Hawks dropped to 0-5 in the WAC standings.

The Spartans improved to 1-4.

Central Valley’s Jennifer Mejia Gonzalez placed first in the 100 free (1:14.6) and fourth in the 50 free (34.9) versus Grace Davis.

Leslie Bobadilla placed second in the 100 IM (1:37) and 50 fly (40.9).

Noemi Delahoya placed second in the 50 free (33.5) and 100 free (1:16.1).

Monika Castillo placed second in the 100 breast (45.0) and third in the 50 free (34.4).

Calum Lundeen placed third in the 50 back (1:02.8).

Monse Rios placed third in the 50 fly (45.8) and fourth in the 100 IM (1:47.1).

Savannah Gomez placed fourth in the 50 back (1:12.20).

Justin Alvarez placed first in the 50 free (26.66) and third in the 50 breast (39.81) during the Central Valley boys team’s 97-9 loss to the Spartans.

The Hawks dropped to 0-5 in the league standings.

The Spartans improved to 3-2.
