Central Valley High School's freshman football team lost 23-6 to Patterson on Oct. 1 at Bulldog Stadium.

The Hawks dropped to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

"We lost three close games against Sierra, Atwater and Enochs," Central Valley head coach Joseph Rohles said. "Our two league opponents had very decisive victories against us. We are a young group of players getting better every day and learning from every game."

Hawk running back David Velasquez rushed for a team-high 66 yards on 23 carries against the Tigers.

Quarterback Darin Andrews completed 6 of 18 passes for 48 yards with one touchdown and five interceptions.

Receiver Ryan Palecek caught two passes for 33 yards.

Palecek led Central Valley's defense with six tackles.

Velasquez had one interception.

Michael Duran collected three tackles and one sack.

Uriel Hernandez chipped in with two tackles, one interception, one pass deflection and one fumble recovery.

The Hawks trailed 9-0 at halftime.

The two teams combined for five turnovers in the first quarter.
