Central Valley High School's varsity girls basketball team kept its playoff hopes alive with a 54-34 win over third-place Los Banos on Tuesday, Feb. 4 in Ceres.

The victory keeps the fourth-place Hawks (4-5) one game behind the Tigers (5-4) in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

Patterson (10-0) and Central Catholic (7-2) sit in first and second, respectively.

The top three teams advance to the postseason.

Central Valley and Los Banos both had three games left on their regular-season schedules as of Monday.

Hawk Mia Lorenzo had a standout game against the Tigers. She collected 20 points, five rebounds, five steals and two assists.
Tamara Uti tallied eight points, six rebounds and one assist.

Mikayla Mabie had six points, four assists three rebounds and one block.

Bianca Zuniga had two points and seven rebounds.

Ali Martinez had two points, four steals, one rebound and one assist.

Jazareth Valencia had two points and three rebounds.

Lynaya Lerma had two points, one assist and one steal.

Heaven Simon had two points and one assist.

Mireiyah Pelayo had two points.

The Hawks led 16-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Ahead 37-26, Central Valley outscored Los Banos 17-8 in the fourth quarter.

Patterson tops CV
Central Valley challenged Patterson early before sustaining a 67-34 loss on Thursday in Ceres.

Lindsey Alexander paced the Hawks with 12 points and one rebound.

Uti had six points, seven rebounds and one block.

Lorenzo had five points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Valencia had four points and six rebounds.

Mabie had two points, four assists and four steals.

Lerma and Zuniga both contributed two points.

The Hawks trailed 10-9 at the end of the first quarter.
Patterson outscored Central Valley 57-25 during the final 24 minutes.

The Hawks will play against visiting Livingston (Feb. 11) and host Los Banos (Thursday) this week. Both games will get underway at 7:30 p.m.
