Central Valley’s swim program hosted the Western Athletic Conference Championships this past month.
On the girls side, the Hawks totaled 202.5 points en route to a fourth-place finish at the April 24-25 event.
The Bulldogs (165) took fifth overall.
On the boys side, the Bulldogs (182) and Hawks (120) placed fifth and eighth, respectively.
“I’m so proud of our small team,” Central Valley head coach Cristina Rocha said. “Our girls did amazing. With just 11 girls, we managed to score fourth overall in league. That’s incredible.”
Zhaira Brar, Joellene Roton, Natalie Southavongsa, Alaney Gonzalez, Kamyla Loza, Andrea Alcantar, Rebecca Castillo, Mikayla Young, Bianey Martinez, Aubrie Guel and Brizia Mendez represented Central Valley’s girls squad at the WAC Championships.
Roton placed first in the 100 back and seventh in the 200 free.
Brar placed second in the 100 free and 100 breast.
Southavongsa placed second in the 100 back and sixth in the 500 free.
Gonzalez placed eighth in the 100 fly and 20th in the 50 free.
Loza placed 13th in the 100 free and 14th in the 50 free.
Alcantar placed 16th in the 50 free and 20th in the 100 breast.
Castillo placed 19th in the 100 free and 23rd in the 100 back.
Young placed 24th in the 100 free and 26th in the 50 free.
Martinez placed 35th in the 100 free and 42nd in the 50 free.
Guel placed 32nd in the 100 free and 44th in the 50 free.
Mendez placed 37th in the 100 free and 47th in the 50 free.
Central Valley’s 200 medley relay team of Southavongsa, Brar, Roton and Loza placed fourth.
Central Valley’s 400 free relay team of Castillo, Southavongsa, Roton and Brar placed fourth.
Central Valley’s 200 free relay team of Alcantar, Gonzalez, Castillo and Loza placed fifth.
Jessie Blevins, Evelynn Tubera, Alana Festa, Layla Abraham, Heaven Vasquez, Randee Ramirez and Natalie Franco represented Ceres High’s girls squad at the league competition.
Blevins placed second in the 200 free and third in the 500 free.
Tubera placed fourth in the 50 free and fifth in the 100 free.
Festa placed fifth in the 100 breast and 33rd in the 50 free.
Abraham placed seventh in the 50 free and ninth in the 100 back.
Vasquez placed seventh in the 200 IM and 19th in the 100 back.
Ramirez placed 27th in the 100 free and 31st in the 50 free.
Franco placed 28th in the 100 free and 35th in the 50 free.
Daniel Tubera, Jaxon Merrill, Armando Rivera, Jose Carranza, Julian Hernandez, Isaiah Villamarin, Jacob Stuart and Jose Vera suited up for Ceres High’s boys squad at the conference meet.
Tubera placed second in the 100 breast and seventh in the 50 free.
Merrill placed third in the 200 IM and 100 fly.
Rivera placed eighth in the 50 free and 13th in the 200 free
Carranza placed ninth in the 50 free and 10th in the 100 free.
Hernandez placed 14th in the 100 free and 16th in the 50 free.
Villamarin placed 27th in the 50 free.
Stuart placed 26th in the 100 free and 31st in the 50 free.
Vera placed 31st in the 100 free and 32nd in the 50 free.
Ari Luman, Ezekiel Castorena, Julian Bustillos, Heriberto Tellez, Isaiah Shirley and David Vasquez represented Central Valley’s boys squad at the WAC Championships.
Luman placed first in the 100 free and second in the 50 free.
He’ll represent the Hawks in both events at the Sac-Joaquin Section Trials this week.
Castorena placed seventh in the 100 free and eighth in the 50 free.
Bustillos placed 11th in the 50 free.
Tellez placed 24th in the 100 free and 25th in the 50 free.
Shirley placed 23rd in the 100 free and 30th in the 50 free.
Vasquez placed 32nd in the 100 free and 35th in the 50 free.
Central Valley’s 200 free relay team of Tellez, Castorena, Bustillos and Luman placed fourth.
