Central Valley High School's varsity girls soccer team shut out Pacheco 6-0 on Wednesday in Los Banos.

The Hawks improved to 2-1 in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

"I'm very proud of the girls," Central Valley head coach Cyndi Meshach said. "They worked really well together. Everybody had an opportunity to score."

Laiza Quintero led Central Valley with one goal and one assist.

Mariana Garibay, Celeste Acebes, Jacqueline Martinez, Adriana Gomez and Emely Lopez all contributed one goal.

Evelyn Andrade, Imani Morton, Daisy Ochoa all chipped in with one assist apiece.

Lopez made two saves at goalkeeper.

The Hawks tallied three goals in the opening four minutes.

"We clearly didn't take them lightly," said Meshach, whose team dominated Pacheco 9-0 at the Central Valley tournament earlier this season.

Ceres High routed Los Banos 9-1 on March 16.

Allyson Hailey and Miranda Wilds both scored two goals for the Bulldogs, who improved to 3-0 in the WAC standings.

Adilene Alberto, Breanna Moreno, Karina Torrez, Angelica Slater and Noelia de Leon tallied one goal each.

Ceres High goalie Angelmarie Coral totaled three saves.


Central Valley will host crosstown-rival Ceres High today at 4 p.m.

The Hawks lost 3-0 to the Bulldogs in non-conference play on March 7.

"Every game is important," Meshach said. "They're a threat. They have some strong players. We're young."
