Central Valley’s track and field program closed out the Central California Conference regular season in memorable fashion last week.

“I’m really happy to see a lot of athletes have their best days,” Hawks’ head coach Michael Mrgudic said. “Seeing how the athletes have trained during practice, it makes sense they’re doing well. They work so hard.”

Sophomore Aaliyah Jauregui led Central Valley’s girls team during the CCC’s third cluster meet on April 17 at Dave Honey Stadium.

She cleared a school-record 4 feet, 10 inches while taking second in the high jump.

“I’m super happy for her. She’s really earned it. She’s a hard worker. If she clears one more height, she can be a league champ.”

A newcomer to the event, Jauregui broke Vanessa Menor’s 2010 school-record of 4-9.

“For whatever reason, Aaliyah gravitated towards high jump,” Mrgudic said. “She’s done really well. She’s getting the hang of it.”
