Nobody expected Central Valley High School's varsity wrestling team to turn in a duplicate performance because of its lack of experience.

The Hawks won all six of their Western Athletic Conference regular-season dual matches for the second straight season despite competing with a lineup featuring four returners and 10 newcomers.

"That wasn't our goal at the beginning of the year," head coach Rob Beckhart said. "We were in a rebuilding year. We were just looking to be competitive. As the season progressed, we realized we had potential."

Central Valley capped off the WAC dual-meet season with a 69-10 win over El Capitan on Wednesday in Merced.

Andrew Marquez, Isaac De La Cruz, Joaquin Garcia, Christian Oliver, Gabriel Martinez, Jason Beckhart, Alex Alvarado, Jose Castillo, Adrian Badillo, Severo Vazquez, Wilbert Arellano and Luis Saucedo collected individual victories for the Hawks.

Marquez won by pin (0:44) over Federico Vega at 160 pounds.

De La Cruz won by pin (0:47) over Paul Leonardo at 285 pounds.

Garcia won by pin (1:11) over Jacob Fernandez at 182 pounds.

Oliver won by pin (1:28) over Mitchell Rasmussen at 126 pounds.

Martinez won by pin (1:28) over David Stewart at 170 pounds.

Beckhart won by pin (1:37) over Julian Hurtado at 220 pounds.

Alvarado won by pin (1:57) over Lucas Honore at 152 pounds.

Castillo won by pin (4:54) over Isaak Gonzalez at 138 pounds.

Badillo won by pin (5:22) over David Sanchez at 195 pounds.

Vazquez won by decision (11-5) over Omar Govea at 145 pounds.

Arellano won by forfeit at 113 pounds.

Luis Saucedo won by forfeit at 120 pounds.

Claudia Martinez lost by major decision (12-4) to El Capitan's Luis Flores at 106 pounds.

Angel Gonzales lost by pin (4:48) to Michael Solorzano at 132 pounds.

The Hawks posted a combined record of 12-0 in WAC dual-meet action the past two seasons. "The kids deserve all the credit for what they were able to accomplish," coach Beckhart said.
