Ceres High School's varsity girls tennis team capped off the 2014 Western Athletic Conference regular season with a 7-2 victory over Pacheco on Oct. 23 in Los Banos.

The Bulldogs (8-4) secured the WAC's No. 2 seed for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division-III playoffs.

Los Banos (12-0) and Central Valley (10-4) placed first and second, respectively, in the conference standings.

"There seems to be a little bit of a buzz," Ceres High head coach Jack Jacques said. "I feel happy for the girls. Our hard work paid off. I'm not disappointed. You take Los Banos out of the equation and the league was very competitive."

Ceres High won all three doubles and four of six singles matches versus Pacheco last week.

Andria Esho and Dominique Koeurn defeated Kayla Ayala and Maria Martinez 6-3, 7-5 in No. 1 doubles play.

Jolyce Vega and Stephanie Garcia defeated Elizabeth DelaCruz and Chelsea Cano 6-1, 6-0 in No. 2 doubles play.

Geneba Revuelta and Sabrina Yang defeated Miranda Arrey and Mia Arrey 6-4, 6-2 in No. 3 doubles play.

Gabriella Blandino defeated Perla Jimenez 6-3, 6-4 in No. 2 singles play.

Janet Jimenez defeated Aimee Wheeler 6-3, 6-3 in No. 3 singles play.

Bianca DeAnda defeated Mariah Moreno 6-1, 6-3 in No. 4 singles play.

Juliana Rosas defeated Lelani Cano 6-1, 6-2 in No. 6 singles play.

Angelica Slater lost 6-3, 6-2 to Iran Islas in No. 1 singles play.

Justine Vega lost 7-5 (5), 6-1 to Ruth Ramirez in No. 5 singles play.

The Bulldogs already had a playoff berth in hand prior to competing against Pacheco.

"It was important for the girls to play well for seeding going into league finals," Jacques said. "We finished the season off strong. I expect a lot out of them. The big difference this year is Central Catholic being out of the league and us being able to handle Livingston."

Ceres High will travel to Modesto to face Valley Oak League No. 1 seed Central Catholic in the first-round of the Division-III playoffs on Nov. 4.

The Raiders, formerly of the WAC, beat the Bulldogs twice in 2013.

"I'm an eternal optimist," Jacques said. "We can make a little noise against them. It will be interesting. They pretty much have the same team they had last year."
