Dawgs rebound in girls tennis

Ceres High School's varsity girls tennis team lost 7-2 to defending Western Athletic Conference champion Los Banos on Oct. 6.

The Bulldogs rebounded with a 7-2 victory at Patterson on Thursday. "We had to win to stay in the hunt (for playoffs)," Ceres High head coach Bryan Harden said.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-4 in the WAC.

Ceres High won all three doubles and four of six singles matches against Patterson.

Aleena Ahmed and Azia Brewster defeated Breanne Hernandez and Marissa Tellas 6-1, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles play.

Sabrina Yang and Shania Evans defeated Sarai Perez and Mercedes Perez 6-2, 6-1 in No. 2 doubles play.

Bella Rosas and Sarah Cuevas defeated Manpreet Kaur and Veronica Martinez 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 doubles play.

Dominique Koeurn defeated Rebecca Moranda 6-2, 6-0 in No. 1 singles play.

Andria Esho defeated Huma Aziz 6-2, 6-2 in No. 2 singles play.

Stephanie Garcia defeated Kitzia Gonzales 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in No. 3 singles play.

Chelsea Heras defeated Lupe Valencia 6-0, 6-1 in No. 4 singles play.

Ceres High took two of three doubles matches from host Los Banos (8-0).

Ahmed and Brewster defeated Emma Little and Lia Palazzo 6-4, 6-1 in No. 1 doubles play.

Yang and Evans defeated Mariah Gomes and Christina Espana in No. 2 doubles play.
