Ceres High's football team resumes its season at home today against the Lathrop Spartans following a bye week.

Kickoff slated for 7 p.m.

"We'll have our work cut out for us," Bulldogs' head coach Brett Johnson said.

Ceres High (3-0) enters the Western Athletic Conference opener versus Lathrop (1-2) with a perfect record.

The Bulldogs won all three of their preseason games.

Ceres High edged the crosstown-rival Central Valley Hawks 21-20 on Sept. 2 at CUSD Stadium.

The Bulldogs defeated the Amador Buffaloes 36-15 on Aug. 26 in Sutter Creek.

Ceres High opened the 2022 campaign with a 54-21 win at West of Tracy on Aug. 19.

"There's definitely a different feeling around our football program," quarterback Landyn Hudson said. "People are starting to talk about Ceres in a good manner."

The Bulldogs are led by Hudson (QB), Tarrell Lee-Gill (RB/DB), Ricky Stanley (WR/DB), Donovan Osuna (DB), Faiva Taukalau (OL/LB) and Kahmi Smith (FB/LB).

Hudson has thrown for 570 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception through Ceres High's first three games.

Lee-Gill rushed for 254 yards and five TDs on 38 carries. He totaled 127 yards and two touchdowns on six receptions.

Stanley grabbed 11 passes for 263 yards and two scores.

Osuna has 12 tackles, two interceptions and three pass deflections.

Tuakalau has 13 tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and one pass deflection.

Smith has 18 tackles and two pass deflections.

"The coaches have a lot of confidence in us," Lee-Gill said.
