Dawgs topple Tigers in softball

Ceres High School's varsity softball team began defense of its Western Athletic Conference title this past week.

The two-time defending WAC champion Bulldogs shut out Patterson 10-0 in five innings on Thursday in Ceres.

Ceres High won its third straight game and improved to 5-3 overall.

Bulldog Callie Nunes pitched a complete game while blanking the Tigers.

Nunes had 12 strikeouts and no walks in five innings.

Callie allowed no runs and three singles.

Ceres High had eight different players collect hits on offense.

Nunes batted 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

Mahlena O'Neal batted 3-for-4 with one homer, one double, one run and four RBIs.

Rayohna Sagapolu batted 2-for-3 with one double, two RBIs and one run.

Jessica Arreola batted 2-for-2 with one double and two runs.

The Bulldogs (5-3, 1-0) committed no errors on defense.
