Central Valley's varsity girls basketball team wrapped up its preseason schedule with an 0-3 showing at the Pitman Holiday Classic in Turlock.
"We're young," Hawks' head coach Jesse Padilla said. "We're still figuring stuff out and trying to get better every game."
Central Valley lost 50-33 to Hughson on Dec. 29.
Grace Davis defeated Central Valley 43-26 on Dec. 28.
Lodi routed Central Valley 62-28 on Dec. 27.
Padilla made changes to his starting lineup and rotation leading up to the Western Athletic Conference season, which gets underway this week.
"It was an evaluation," he said. "I'm not going to play all 13 girls (during WAC play)."
The Hawks compiled a 1-11 record against non-conference competition.
Central Valley is moving forward with a revamped roster as all five starters from a season ago were lost to graduation.
"Even though we're losing games, we have to keep our heads up," Padilla said. "It's a learning period for us. We have a lot of juniors. One year is a big jump as far as maturity. We need to get stronger. We got to match the physical play."
