Two days removed from suffering its first loss of the season-a 3-2 setback at Pitman-Central Valley High School's varsity boys soccer team bounced back in a big way by capturing the Gregori championship for the third time in four years.

The Hawks didn't compete in the tournament in 2011.

"We matched what was done in the past," head coach Omar Leon said. "I was very impressed with the performance. Winning the tournament was a result of hard work, dedication and commitment by everyone out there."

Central Valley topped Beyer 3-0 for the title on Saturday.

Omar Orozco collected one goal and one assist.

Jairo Ramos and Alex Vazquez both scored once.

David Saucedo made four saves at goalkeeper.

The Hawks edged the host Jaguars 2-1 on Saturday.

Juan Medrano and Cesar Bravo both tallied one goal.

Saucedo made totaled four saves.

Orozco scored twice in Central Valley's 2-1 triumph versus Oakdale on Friday.

Angel Lopez and Alexis Galindo finished with one assist each.

Vazquez tallied six saves.

Vazquez blocked nine shots and Bravo scored off a pass from Medrano during the Hawks' 1-0 win over Grace Davis in the opening round.

Central Valley managed to win the Gregori tourney title despite competing without 2012 Western Athletic Conference MVP Ozzie Ramos. He took a recruiting trip to UC San Diego. Calvo, Medrano and Daniel Hernandez filled in for Ramos.

"Ozzie's a great player," Leon said. "When it comes to soccer, it's a team game. There are 11 players on the field. We have plenty of talent on our roster."

Ceres High will play at Turlock this Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

CHS 6, Hilmar 0
Ceres High rolled to a 6-0 victory over Hilmar on Sept. 3 at Bulldog Stadium.

Andres Velasquez and Cris Torres both scored two goals for the Bulldogs, who improved to 3-2 on the year. Joel Bhatti and Cristian Cabrales collected one goal each.

Goalkeeper Nicolas Martinez had seven saves.

Ceres High will play against Beyer this Thursday in Modesto at 5:30 p.m.
