Hawks rout Wolves, lose to Tigers

Central Valley's varsity softball team opened Western Athletic Conference play with a 15-4 win over Livingston on Wednesday in Ceres.

The Hawks pounded 15 hits versus the Wolves.

Freshman Scarlett Lloyd batted 2-for-2 from the plate with a pair of homers, three RBIs, four runs and one walk.

Freshman Giuliana Gutierrez batted 3-for-3 with one RBI and three runs.

Nayeli Pelayo batted 1-for-5 with one double, two RBIs and one run.

Sophomore Brianna Quiroz batted 3-for-3 with two RBIs, one run and one walk.

Sophomore Megan McElroy batted 1-for-4 with one RBI and one run.

Autianna Baxter batted 1-for-2 with two runs and three stolen bases.

Sophomore Alyssa Maeyama batted 2-for-3 with one run, one walk and one stolen base.
Freshman Kaydee Peterman batted 1-for-2 with one run, one walk and four stolen bases.
Gaby Bonales batted 1-for-3 with one run and one walk.
Marissa Camarillo drove in one run.

Central Valley dropped to 9-6 overall and 1-1 in the WAC standings after losing 8-4 to visiting Los Banos on Friday.

The Hawks erased a three-run deficit before falling to the Tigers, who were edged 1-0 in 11 innings by three-time WAC-champion Ceres High earlier in the week.

Central Valley collected 10 hits in defeat.

Quiroz batted 2-for-4 with one double, three RBIs and one run.

Lloyd batted 4-for-4 with one double and two runs.

Bonales batted 1-for-4 with one double, one RBI and one stolen base.

Peterman batted 1-for-3 with one walk and one stolen base.

Maeyama scored once.

McElroy and Pelayo both singled.

Central Valley will play at Pacheco today and Patterson on Friday.

Both games will begin at 4 p.m.

The Hawks have already equaled last season's win total in conference play.
