Hawks stage impressive comeback in volleyball

Central Valley High School's varsity volleyball team broke into the Western Athletic Conference win column for the first time this season last week.

The Hawks stormed back for a 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 15-13 win over host Livingston on Sept. 30.

Lynaya Lerma had six kills and six blocks for Central Valley, which improved to 1-2 in the WAC standings.

Leah Faamati added six blocks and three kills.

Mia Lorenzo collected three aces, two digs and two kills.

Central Valley overcame a two-games-to-none deficit.

Panthers 3, Bulldogs 2
Ceres High and Pacheco engaged in a back-and-forth battle last week.

The visiting Panthers prevailed 3-2 (16-25, 25-21, 16-25, 25-16, 7-15) at Phil de la Porte Gymnasium.

Ryleigh Honberger led the Bulldogs (0-4) with 12 digs, 11 kills and four blocks.

Fulu Tevaseu tallied nine kills, four aces, four digs, one block and one assist.

Kaytlin Donaldson had nine digs and four aces.
Sara Graham had nine aces and one kill.

Brooke Anderson had seven assists, four digs and one ace.

Jessica Arreola had eight digs and three aces.

Valerie Hamilton had seven kills, six digs and five aces.

Sabrina Baisdon had seven assists.

Yvonne Verduzco had seven digs.

Cameron Diaz had five assists, three digs and two aces.

Edith Peralta had two kills and one dig.

Ceres High lost 3-0 (25-16, 25-66, 25-21) at Patterson on Oct. 2.

Anderson had eight assists and three digs.

Graham had eight digs, two kills and one block.
Tevaseu had six kills and four digs.

Honberger had five kills and three digs.

Peralta had five digs.

Hamilton had four digs and one kill.

Donaldson had three digs and one ace.

Arreola had three digs.

Central Valley will play host to Ceres High today at 6:30 p.m.
