Central Valley’s varsity boys tennis team compiled a 3-1 record against Central California Conference competition in a five-day span.

“It’s a lot of matches in a week,” head coach Mike Rodriguez said. “The kids played hard. It didn’t seem like they were burnt out.”

Central Valley improved to 4-2 in the CCC standings with a 9-0 win at Golden Valley on Friday.

“We’re where I thought we’d be,” Rodriguez said. “We’re in the middle of the standings. We have an outside chance for top three.”

The Hawks swept all six singles and three doubles matches against the Cougars.

Central Valley topped Buhach Colony 6-3 on Thursday in Atwater.

Adrian Gomez won 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

Jason Figueroa won 6-1, 6-2 in No. 5 singles play.

Andy Souksavath won 6-3, 7-5 in No. 6 singles play.

Bryan Soto Ruiz and Belizario Ramirez won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 1 doubles play.

Central Valley won the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches by default.

Central Valley lost 8-1 to Merced on March 12 in Ceres.

Zaragoza won 7-5, 6-3 in No. 2 doubles play.

Host Central Valley edged Atwater 5-4 on March 11.

Ramirez and Soto Ruiz won 6-1, 7-6 (7-0) in No. 1 doubles play.

Omar Lepe and Donavan Gaut won 6-0, 6-0 in No. 2 doubles play.

Central Valley won the No. 3 doubles match by default.

Gomez won 6-1, 7-5 in No. 3 singles play.

Souksavath won 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), 6-0 in No. 5 singles play.
