Ceres High School's junior-varsity baseball team placed fifth at the Art McRae Tournament this past month in Ceres.

Co-hosted by the Bulldogs and crosstown-rival Central Valley Hawks, the tourney featured eight teams.

Ceres High compiled a 2-2 record.

The Bulldogs defeated the Waterford Wildcats 5-1 on March 31 and Atwater Falcons 6-1 on March 30.

The Bulldogs lost 2-1 to the Golden Valley Cougars on March 29 and 6-5 to the Firebaugh Eagles on March 28.

Central Valley won one of its four games.

The Hawks posted a 13-6 win over Firebaugh on March 29.

Central Valley lost 10-9 to Atwater on March 31, 15-4 to Golden Valley on March 30 and 16-3 to the Kimball Jaguars on March 28.

Central Valley, 6-10 overall and 2-2 in the Western Athletic Conference, will play at El Capitan today and host to the Gauchos on Friday.

Both conference games will get underway at 4 p.m.

Ceres High (11-6, 3-3) has a bye this week.
