Central Valley's junior-varsity football team dropped its season opener, 14-0, at Atwater on Friday.
"We got better throughout the game," Hawks head coach Joe Rohles said.
Atwater limited Central Valley to 97 rushing yards on 28 carries.
Brandan Cordeiro gained 46 yards on 11 carries.
Darin Andrews ran for 32 yards on three attempts.
Cordeiro and Jesus Damian both registered a team-high five tackles on defense.
Daniel Ward had 31/2 tackles and one fumble recovery.
The Hawks and Falcons battled to a scoreless tie in the opening half.
"Defensively, we played great and fast," Rohles said. "Our only miscues were the long touchdowns that were broken plays. As an offense, we need to continue to work hard and do our job. When each player does their job, we will have success."
