Mixed results for Dawgs, Hawks in track & field

Ceres High's and Central Valley's varsity girls track and field teams finished sixth and eighth, respectively, at the Stanislaus County Meet on March 10 at Turlock High School.

Azia Brewster and Julia Pata led the Bulldogs, who totaled 35 points.

Brewster won the high jump (5-0) and placed sixth in the long jump (15-51/2).

Pata won the shot put (33-71/2) and ninth in the discus (90-7).

Ceres High's Shania Evans, Azar Harrison, Claudia Jimenez, Camryn Elness, Kendall Meyer, Carli Gomes, Destiny Suarez, Alyssa Stiles, Destiny Moreno, Chelsey Silva and Bella Curry also competed.

Evans placed sixth in the triple jump (30-31/4).

Harrison placed sixth in the 200 (28.82) and ninth in the 100 (13.95).

Jimenez placed ninth in the 200 (29.31) and 16th in the 400 (67.24).

Elness placed 11th in the shot put (28-1) and 16th in the discus (81-9).

Meyer placed 12th in the high jump (4-4) and triple jump (27-10).

Gomes placed 12th in the 300 hurdles (55.93) and 15th in the 100 (14.44).

Suarez placed 13th in the 3,200 (14:42.91) and 17th in the 1,600 (6:22.19).

Stiles placed 14th in the long jump (14-0).

Moreno placed 17th in the 300 hurdles (70.10).

Silva placed 18th in the 1,600 (6:22.25) and 19th in the 800 (2:57.43).

Curry placed 20th in the 800 (3:07.28).

Thomas placed 20th in the 400 (70.24).

Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Harrison, Jimenez, Gomes and Brewster placed sixth (54.78).

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Harrison, Thomas, Jimenez and Yasmine Cordova placed sixth (4:36.98).

The Hawks amassed 241/2 points.

Mahogany Simon placed second in the 300 hurdles (48.79), third in the 100 hurdles (16.53) and fifth in the 400 (64.17).

Chetna Kumar placed sixth in the 100 (13.85).

Blanca Espinoza placed 10th in the 400 (65.74) and 11th in the 200 (29.45).

Adria Robinson placed 13th in the shot put (27-6).

Emily Curiel placed 15th in the 300 hurdles (60.71) and 17th in the 100 hurdles (21.27).

Central Valley's 4x400 relay team of Simon, Espinoza, Chetna Kumar and Anusha Kumar placed fifth (4:25.92).

VARSITY BOYS
Ceres High's and Central Valley's varsity boys track and field teams took seventh and 11th, respectively, at the Stanislaus County Meet last week.

Marcellus Boykins, Conner Johnson and Zyier Harrison led the way as the Bulldogs accumulated 39 points.

Boykins won the triple jump (43-5) and finished fourth in the long jump (20-7).

Johnson finished second in the shot put (46-8) and eighth in the discus (117-7).

Harrison finished third in the 100 (11.58) and seventh in the 200 (23.99).

Daniel Yepez, Christian Linarez, Andrew Gibson, Zach Baker, Samuel Garcia, Daniel McElwain, Johnny Hutson, Jorge Tiscareno, Josh Madariaga, Joseph Gutierrez, Roman Acosta, Noah Holloway, Aaron Alarcon, Kendrick Perata and Cristofer De La Riva also participated.

Yepez finished sixth in the 300 hurdles (45.57).

Linarez finished ninth in the 1,600, (4:52.78) and 13th in the 800 (2:11.71).

Gibson placed 10th in the 110 hurdles (18.84).

Baker finished 11th in the 300 hurdles (48.14).

Garcia placed 13th in the long jump (18-01/2).

McElwain placed 13th in the shot put (35-51/2).

Hutson placed 14th in the 200 (24.44) and 20th in the 100 (12.23).

Tiscareno placed 16th in the 110 hurdles (19.98).

Madariaga placed 18th in the 3,200 (11:46.92).

Gutierrez placed 19th in the 800 (2:17.35).

Acosta placed 20th in the 3,200 (12:16.18).

Holloway placed 20th in the 1,600 (5:09.17).

Alarcon placed 20th in the 400 (59.65) and 21st in the triple jump (35-41/2).

Perata placed 25th in the 400 (61.76).

Cristofer De La Riva placed 30th in the discus (60-3).

Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Hutson, Garcia, Gibson and Harrison placed sixth (46.59).

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Boykins, Hutson, Alarcon and Harrison placed seventh (3:47.02).

Andres Rojo, Sergio Garcia and Raquesh Hernandez paced the Hawks (11 points).

Rojo finished second in the 400 (52.52) and 15th in the 800 (2:15.11).

Garcia finished 10th in the pole vault (9-6).

Hernandez finished 11th in the shot put (36-71/2) and 13th in the discus (105-11).

Hawk teammates Enrique Martinez, Alejandro Saucedo, Sebastian Pena, Estevan Barragan, Chase Bogart, Carlos Prado-Diaz, Patric Senesom, Christopher Simental, Favio Gonzalez, Oso Fregoso, Ronald Rossi and Javier Gradilla contributed as well.

Martinez finished 13th in the 3,200 (11:07.78).

Saucedo finished 13th in the 300 hurdles (48.71) and 22nd in the 110 hurdles (21.12).

Pena finished 14th in the 100 (12.01) and 21st in the long jump (16-6).

Barragan finished 15th in the 200 (24.69) and 18th in the 100 (12.11).

Bogart finished 16th in the 1,600 (5:04.30).

Prado-Diaz finished 17th in the 110 hurdles (20.60) and 22nd in the 300 hurdles (54.84).

Senesom finished 18th in the 400 (58.97) and 23rd in the 200 (26.02).

Simental finished 20th in the discus (91-1).

Gonzalez finished 21st in the 3,200 (12:28.79).

Fregoso finished 22nd in the shot put (33-4).

Rossi finished 23rd in the 800 (2:24.27).

Gradilla finished 25th in the 1,600 (5:45.20).

Central Valley's 4x400 relay team of Bogart, Pena, Barragan and Rojo placed sixth (3:44.17).
