Gibson, Dray lead Ceres High boys to sixth-place finish at County Meet

Central Valleys Isaac De La Cruz placed 12th in the shot put and 14th in the discus at the Stanislaus County Meet last week.

The members of Ceres High's and Central Valley's varsity track and field teams competed at the Stanislaus County Meet on Friday at Turlock's Joe Debely Stadium.

The Bulldogs and Hawks placed sixth and 13th, respectively, during the boys' competition.

Ceres High's top performers were Seth Gibson, Tristan Dray, Kevin Moita, Johnni Smith-Willis, Ulises Diaz, Veeti Partanen, Conner Johnson and Luis Calderon.

Gibson placed second in the 110 hurdles.

Dray placed second in the high jump, and third in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Moita placed seventh in the 200 and ninth in the 100.

Johnson placed seventh in the shot put and 12th in the discus.

Calderon placed eighth in the shot put and 16th in the discus.

Smith-Willis placed 10th in the 100.

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Gibson, Diaz, Dray and Moita placed third.

Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Smith-Willis, Diaz, Partanen and Moita placed fifth.

Bulldog teammates Myron Sichanpheng, Manuel Baez, Isaac Leon and Trevor Nash, competed as well.

Sichanpheng placed 10th in the triple jump and 20th in the long jump.

Baez placed 11th in the 800.

Leon placed 11th in the 1,600 and 13th in the 800.

Nash placed 12th in the triple jump.
Gilberto Alvarez, Isaac De La Cruz, Lisandro Gallardo, Jesse Maciel, Jashanpreet Sidhu, Andres Rojo and Anthony Harrison represented Central Valley.

Alvarez placed eighth in the pole vault.

De La Cruz placed 12th in the shot put and 14th in the discus.

Central Valley's 4x400 relay team of Rojo, Harrison, Sidhu and Gallardo placed ninth.

Central Valley's 4x100 relay team of Maciel, Alvarez, Jashanpreet Sidhu and Gallardo placed 11th.

Ceres High's and Central Valley's girls finished 13th and 14th, respectively.

Azia Brewster led the Bulldogs.

She placed third in the high jump, ninth in the 100 hurdles and 19th in the 100.

Ceres High teammates Mallynda Benjamin, Kaylee Holloway, Sydney Elness, Yarisleidi Rodriguez, Ashley Schmidt, Haleigh Leazer, Kadie Brenning, Kendall Meyer, Claudia Jimenez, Destiny Adams and Yasmine Cordova also competed.

Benjamin placed eighth in the 200 and ninth in the 100.

Holloway placed 10th in the 400.

Elness placed 10th in the triple jump and 15th in the long jump.

Rodriguez placed 11th in the shot put.

Schmidt placed 11th in the long jump.

Leazer placed 11th in the 1,600 and 15th in the 800.

Brenning placed 11th in the 400 and 16th in the triple jump.

Meyer placed 12th in the high jump.

Ceres High's 4x100 relay team of Brewster, Jimenez, Adams and Benjamin placed seventh.

Ceres High's 4x400 relay team of Brenning, Cordova, Jimenez and Holloway placed eighth.

Hawk Mahogany Simon placed third in the 300 hurdles, 16th in the 100 hurdles and 17th in the 200.

Jocelyn Barrera placed 13th in the 400 and 14th in the 300 hurdles.

Dana Miranda placed 14th in the 3,200 and 19th in the 800.

Darian Robinson placed 15th in the discus and 20th in the shot put.

Else Smith placed 16th in the discus and 19th in the shot put.

Karina Cercas placed 18th in the 1,600 and 20th in the 800.
