Karrah Brown 5th in Folsom Sections

Karrah Brown ran in her final high school race on Friday in Folsom. The Ceres High senior placed 28th in a field of 65 at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Cross Country Championships.

She completed the 5-kilometer Willow Hill course in 21 minutes, 50 seconds.

Brown had an outstanding career for the Bulldogs. She qualified for the section meet all four years. She also garnered all-league honors.

Conference awards

Brown, Benny Perez, Heather Jones, John Beattie and Vicki Morales earned all-league honors after finishing in the top 22 at the Modesto Metro Conference championship meet on Nov. 28 at Legion Park in Modesto.

Brown and Perez were selected to the first team.

Jones was named to the second team.

Beattie and Morales were honorable-mention selections.

Brown, Jones and Morales led the varsity girls to a fourth-place finish with 85 points. Brown placed sixth on the 3.1-mile course in 19:48. Jones, a junior, placed 14th in 21:20. Morales, a junior, placed 22nd in 23:03.

Perez and Beattie led the varsity boys to a fifth-place finish with 107 points. Perez placed sixth in 17:28. Beattie placed 22nd in 18:54. - By DALE BUTLER / Staff reporter of the Ceres (Calif.) Courier
