Roland Salazar felt like screaming during his 6-1, 7-5 win over Riverbank's Antonio Vigil in No. 1 singles play on Friday in Ceres. But the Ceres High junior remained composed.

"It's not good to yell," he said. "It's disrespectful."

Salazar played a near-flawless first set. Then proceeded to commit a host of unforced errors in the second set.

"I thought I was going to cruise (after the first set)," Salazar said.

Added Ceres coach Garrett Deering: "He's got to stay focused for the entire match."

When Salazar concentrated, he dominated. Vigil couldn't chase down Salazar's corner shots or handle Salazar's powerful serve.

"I had a fun time out there," Salazar said. So did the rest of his teammates.

Salazar and the Ceres High tennis squad posted a 6-0 victory over the Bruins.

The Bulldogs (3-0) won all three singles and doubles matches.

"We really haven't got challenged like I want yet," Deering said.

Carlos Jara beat Riverbank's David Unruh 6-3, 2-6, 7-6 (7-5) in No. 2 singles play.

"He was listening to me when I was talking," Deering said. "And it made a difference."

It took Russell Alcorn less than 40 minutes to beat Riverbank's Kevin Keo 6-0, 6-1 in No. 3 singles play.

Jose Magana and Albert Hernandez beat Riverbank's Julian Hernandez and Colton Huggins 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles play.

Garrett Deering Jr. and Charles Robinson beat Riverbank's Amber Nickels and Leslie Thissen 6-1, 6-3 in No. 2 doubles play.

Gustavo Hernandez and Peter Younadim beat Riverbank's Gabby Zamora and Allyson Meltugh 6-2, 6-0 in No. 3 doubles play.
