Ceres High School's varsity boys soccer team has reeled off three straight wins since losing 3-1 to crosstown-rival Central Valley.

"The kids are very resilient," Bulldogs head coach Koeurn Phe said.

Ceres High improved to 12-3-1 on the year and 8-1-0 in the Western Athletic Conference.

The first-place Bulldogs held a two-point lead (24-22) over Central Valley in the standings as of Sunday.

The Bulldogs posted a 5-1 win over host Los Banos on Wednesday.

Rafael Mercado tallied two goals and one assist after switching from fullback to striker in the second half.

Rochas scored twice.

Luis Corona contributed one goal and one assist.

Cristian Cabrales had one assist.

Ceres High beat Central Catholic 4-2 on Monday, Oct. 10 at Ceres River Bluff Regional Park.

Rochas led the Bulldogs with three goals.

Corona scored once.

Ceres High edged Pacheco 2-1 on Oct. 5 in Los Banos.

Cabrales and Alexis Galindo both scored once.

Rochas, a sophomore forward, has tallied six goals in five games for the Bulldogs.

"I'm not surprised," Phe said. "When we scrimmaged against the JV, he impressed me with his speed and ability to control the ball. He found ways to score against us. That's why I decided to move him up to varsity. He gives our team more depth."
