Central Valley trailed 18-17 at halftime.

The Rams increased their lead to 30-25 in the third quarter.

JUNIOR VARSITY

Central Valley High School's junior-varsity boys basketball team won its final game before winter break.

The Hawks defeated Lathrop 52-31 on Tuesday, Dec. 20 in Ceres.

"We needed a good, all-round game to get the confidence up," Central Valley head coach Mike Rodriguez said. "We were more under control on offense. We had better passes. We didn't turn the ball over 30 times."

Freshman post player Parker Griffin and sophomore guard Maleek Berry scored a combined 43 points for the Hawks (4-7).

Griffin poured in a game-high 27 points with a variety of shots around the basket.

Berry had 16 points.

"They've been two of our most consistent scorers all year," Rodriguez said. "It makes my job a lot easier."
