Pacheco upset Los Banos 11-10 in varsity boys water polo on Oct. 8.

Six-foot-6 Brogdon and Ceres High handled visiting Pacheco 18-7 on Wednesday and moved into a tie for first place with Los Banos in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

Ceres High lost 12-10 to Los Banos on Oct. 1.

The two teams, both 4-1 in the WAC as of Sunday, will face off today in Ceres at 5 p.m.

"It puts us in a position where if we win out we go to playoffs," Bull said.

Ceres High won its first meeting against Pacheco, 10-9, on Sept. 24.

The Bulldogs dominated the rematch.

Ceres High led 5-1 at the end of the first period.

The Bulldogs outscored the Panthers 10-2 in the second half.

Brogdon tallied a game-high eight goals versus the Panthers (3-2).

Jones had seven goals.

Mario Gonzalez (two goals) and Ethan Campbell (one goal) chipped in as well.

First-year goalkeeper Anthony Vasquez totaled 16 blocks.

"It just wasn't me and Terry," said Zachary, a 6-foot-2 left-handed sophomore. "It was the whole team. We didn't underestimate them today. We want to go to playoffs. That's our No. 1 motivation."

Added Brogdon: "We didn't mess around. We want a league championship. This gives us more momentum."

Host Ceres High took control early and rolled to a 16-6 victory over Livingston on Monday, Oct. 8.

Brogdon and Jones both scored five goals for the Bulldogs, who led 10-0 at the break.

Dylan Browning finished with four goals.

Campbell added one goal.

Vasquez made eight saves and scored one goal.

Backup goalkeeper Sean Carr had five blocks.

"Last year, I was having fun," said Zachary, whose main sport is swimming. "I didn't take it serious. This year, it's been a transformation. It's all about water polo right now. This is what I look forward to every day."

CHS girls blow out

Pacheco, Livingston

Ceres High School's varsity girls water polo team coasted past visiting Pacheco and Livingston last week.

The second-place Bulldogs improved to 4-1 in the Western Athletic Conference standings.

Ceres High routed Pacheco 21-8 on Wednesday.

Haley Fisicaro tallied a team-high six goals for the Bulldogs, who built a commanding 13-4 lead in the opening half.

Cassidy Hines had four goals.

Emily Chapman and Kirstie Lomoljo both collected three goals.

Jordan Pata and Samantha Le chipped in with two goals each.

Goalkeeper Kyndal Chapman totaled nine blocks.

Ceres High topped visiting Livingston 17-3 on Monday, Oct. 8.

Eleven different Bulldog players contributed on offense.

Fisicaro, Hines, Pata, Katie Rose, Ashley Kuhno and Holly Lackey led Ceres High in scoring with two goals apiece.

Lomoljo, Le, Emily Chapman, Maya Narvaez and Raquel Flud all had one goal.

The Bulldogs held a comfortable 11-1 lead heading into the second half.
