A 25-year-old Alabama man was arrested Friday afternoon when a Ceres Police officer caught him with a U-Haul van that was reported as stolen.

At 1:49 p.m., Ceres Police Officer Tyler Wilson was patrolling the Walmart Supercenter parking lot at 3960 Mitchell Road when he discovered a stolen Chevrolet Express owned by U-Haul and occupied by two people. As the driver was moving in the southern end of the parking lot, Officer Wilson conducted a high-risk stop to remove driver Nigel Ray, 25 of Alabama and a passenger.

Police released the passenger who was uninvolved in the theft while Ray was arrested on charges of auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle and was booked into the Public Safety Center.
