Ceres Cop Car

A 21-year-old Ceres man was arrested Thursday morning after he allegedly drove while intoxicated and hit the back of a UPS tractor-trailer rig on Whitmore Avenue at Blaker Road.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:37 p.m. as the truck driver was driving eastbound on Whitmore Avenue and was struck from behind by a red Dodge pickup truck. Officer Kevin Sakasegawa found the UPS rig parked along the south side of Whitmore Ave just west of Blaker Rd with its hazard lights on and a red truck blocking one of eastbound lanes. The officer noted a smell of alcohol on the breath of pickup driver Jesus Rincon. Officer Sakasegawa determined that Rincon was intoxicated and had a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) of .24 percent. Rincon was arrested and transported to the hospital as a precaution where he was cited and released for driving under the influence, driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level above .08 percent.
