Ceres Cop Car

A 35-year-old Ceres man was arrested for a hit-and-run crash and drunken driving on Wednesday evening, Dec. 2 after the victim followed him and remained on the phone with 911 operators until officers arrived.

The crash occurred at 8:21 p.m. at Hatch Road and Herndon Avenue and caused damage to the victim's car. The victim called 911 and reported the suspect's trail to police. Officers arrived and pulled over Juan Rios, 35, and administered him several field sobriety tests, all of which he failed. His breath registered a 0.26 percent, triple the legal limit, on the Breathalyzer.

Rios was arrested for DUI and hit-and-run. He was reportedly combative and uncooperative with jail personnel.
