Dine and dash
Anthony Callado and Jennifer Kaguay were arrested for robbery after police say they assaulted an employee who tried to stop them for not paying for lunch.

A Modesto couple was arrested Tuesday, June 25 after they allegedly ate a meal at the New King Buffett at 1550 E. Hatch Road, left without paying and then shoved an employee who tried to stop them.

The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. Officer Kevin Sakasegawa went to the eatery and learned that when the two were attempting to leave, they were confronted by an employee. A verbal argument ensued between the three which escalated to the employee being assaulted by Kaguay which escalated the theft into a robbery. The employee retreated into the restaurant while the couple fled on foot.

Officer Sakasegawa reviewed video surveillance of the entire incident and searched for the suspects. He located Anthony Callado, 32, and Jennifer Kaguay, 30, both of Modesto, in the 900 block of Hatch Road and arrested them. Both Callado and Kaguay were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for robbery.

Callado had a warrant for his arrest for theft and assault in San Jose.
