Assault victim found underneath Keyes overpass
assault

The discovery of an assault victim sitting in a car parked underneath the Keyes Road Overpass along southbound Highway 99 prompted an investigation of the California Highway Patrol Sunday evening.

The victim is expected to survive, said Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Joshua Clayton. Initially it was believed the man was shot in the head.

A passing motorist called 9-1-1 at around 5:43 p.m. Sunday after seeing the victim in a white Honda with a bloody head. The car did not crash and there was no sign of gunshots. Information on the lone occupant was not available. He is being treated at a local hospital.

Those with information on the assault case are urged to call Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Callers may remain anonymous and eligible for a cash reward. Tips also can be submitted via www.stancrimetips.org.
