Wanted for a felony auto theft charge, a 42-year-old Modesto man was picked up in Ceres on Thursday, June 29 after initially trying to run from the arresting officer.

At 7:52 a.m., Officer Chuck Lordhuff was patrolling the area of Eugene Avenue and Bystrum Road when he observed Juan Salgado, 42, of Modesto attempting to start the vehicle unsuccessfully. When Salgado noticed Officer Lordhuff looking at him he bolted from the car and ran. Salgado eventually stopped and was apprehended. During a records check, the officer learned of the felony arrest warrant and took him to be booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
