A 23-year-old man was arrested early Saturday after he allegedly tried to run into bar patrons and security personnel who bounced him out of the Rusty Nail cocktail lounge after a fight.

Carlos Mejia was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center on three counts of attempted murder, vandalism and driving without a license.

According to Ceres Police Department spokesman Sgt. Keith Griebel, Mejia was involved in a physical fight inside of the Rusty Nail at 3014 Fourth Street and was escorted out. At 12:39 a.m., Officer Eric Souza and other officers were dispatched to the area with the report that Mejia drove his Nissan Versa northbound on the sidewalk in front of the bar and narrowly missed several people before colliding with a pole on Lawrence Street. The driver fled but was found by officers.
