A Tuesday, Jan. 2 report of a panhandler outside of Cost Less Foods on Hatch Road resulted in his arrest for an active warrant for his arrest for parole violations.

At 11:15 a.m., Officers Hector Pulido and Krandall Vandagriff were dispatched to the shopping center and spotted Christopher Allen Smith, 31, of Ceres, in front of the Big 5 sporting goods store. Officer Vandagriff recognized Smith from prior contacts and arrested him.
