Burglary suspect arrested after lying about ID
Ceres Cop Car

An Empire teenager was arrested last Friday evening for burglary after he was stopped by an officer and lied about his identity.

At 11:21 p.m. Officer Jessica Graham recognized a vehicle which had been involved in a prior residential burglary in which several guns were taken. She stopped the car near the intersection of Moffett and Garrison. Johnny Valenzuela, 18, of Empire, lied about his name but Officer Graham knew he was and asked him to get out of the car. Valenzuela complied but took off running when she tried to detain him. Officer Graham chased Valenzuela west through the Richland Center parking lot then north on Seventh Street before she caught him.

Valenzuela was booked for resisting or obstructing a police officer, driving without a license, for a warrant for the earlier burglary and for a misdemeanor warrant issued by the Sheriff's Department.
