With suspected methamphetamine in his vehicle, Luiz Rizo, 43, of Ceres, was hopeful that he could outrun Ceres Police Monday evening. But the pursuit ended on a south Modesto street where he was arrested.

The incident began at 10:05 p.m. when Officer Aaron Pinon attempted to stop the Rizo for running a red light at Hatch and Morgan roads in a Ford Mustang. When Officer Pinon activated his emergency lights and siren to stop him, Rizo accelerated and led the officer into west Modesto. When he was in the 1700 block of Olympia Street, the Mustang developed mechanical problems and came to a stop. Rizo got out of the car and was taken into custody at gunpoint. Rizo searched and found with the suspected meth.

Rizo was booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center for recklessly evading an officer in a vehicle and possession of an illegal substance.
