A 28-year-old Ceres man who was employed at the Food-4-Less store on Mitchell Road in Ceres was arrested Tuesday morning after it was discovered he had been defrauding his employer of about $3,000 in pay that he didn’t earn.

Ceres Police was called at 10:45 a.m. for a reported employee theft. Scott Powell, the Regional Director of Loss Prevention for Food 4 Less, told police that a Ceres store manager reported his suspicious that employee Christian Davila, 28, of Ceres, had been falsifying his electronic time card. Powell began an investigation and learned that approximately a year ago Davila was given a supervisor access code for the store’s electronic time clock system so he could cover a supervisor’s vacation. Davila began using this code to add time to his time card which he had not worked. The manager grew suspicious when he noticed that Davila was clocked in to work but could not be found in the store.

Davila admitted to the crime. Davila was arrested for grand theft by fraudulent means.
