Ceres man arrested for DUI and hit & run

Vincent Dickinson, 33, of Ceres, was caught by Ceres Police after he hit another vehicle while driving drunk and fleeing the scene.

The crash occurred at 10:04 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 near Service and Mitchell roads. A 9-1-1 caller stated that the vehicle that hit his vehicle was a brown Chevrolet Trailblazer and that he was following. The victim gave dispatchers directions of travel which allowed Officer Hector Pulido to the suspect. Officer Pulido caught up to the Trailblazer as it sped eastbound on Caswell Avenue from Central Avenue. A vehicle stop was made after it made a southbound turn onto Fifth Street from Caswell Avenue. 

Dickinson had a strong odor of an alcohol on his breath and vehicle and appeared to be intoxicated. A DUI investigation was conducted and it was determined that Dickinson was nearly three times the legal limit for blood alcohol concentration. Dickinson was arrested but released to family members on a written promise to appear.
