Kevin Waite, 40, of Ceres, faces charges of arson following a Thursday morning brush fire police claim he set.

At 9:49 a.m., officers were dispatched to a call where a man was seen setting some brush on fire in the 1900 block of Richard Way. As police checked the area, Waite was found at Central Avenue and Evans Road as matching the description given by a witness. At the conclusion of the investigation, Waite was arrested for arson and booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center.
