Ceres woman arrested for DUI, hit and run
Ceres Cop Car

A 42-year-old resident of Colony Park Estates Mobile Home Park was arrested and booked for DUI and hit and run after fleeing an accident she caused in the park at 3939 Central Avenue on Sunday evening.

The crash occurred at 7:18 p.m., when the victim driver was westbound in the park when a black Honda with no headlights on swerved onto her side of the road and hit her. The woman driving the car appeared to be looking down at her phone when the collision occurred. The female driver of the Honda continued eastbound without stopping and made a right turn as if heading out of the trailer park.

Officer Jessica Graham was guided by a witness to the driver's home in the park and found Amy Jane Ellerson laying in her driveway in a puddle of urine. Ellerson had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, bloodshot red watery eyes, slurred speech, and was unable to stand on her own. Too intoxicated to complete Field Sobriety Test, Ellerson was transported by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center for a blood test. Ellerson had to be held up to walk into the facility. After approximately two hours Ellerson was still unable to walk on her own and lost balance when she stood or sat down and continued to fall asleep while in custody.
