A 31-year-old Ceres woman was cited and released to a family member after she crashed into a parked car and fled the scene.

A complaint of hit and run on Veronica Duarte, 31, of Ceres, will be forwarded to the Stanislaus County District Attorney, said Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Keith Griebel.

Officers were dispatched to the1800 block of Evans for a hit and run at 2:17 a.m. The driver whose car was struck reported by the white Toyota Corolla found it parked in the 1600 block of Evans Road. Ceres Police Sgt. Jonathan Blount saw that the Toyota had front-end damage and believed Duarte to be intoxicated. Officer Aaron Pinon conducted a DUI investigation, including a breathalyzer test which showed her body with over the legal amount of alcohol to drive.

Duarte was arrested for DUI but turned over to family instead of going to jail.
