Crash into light pole results in DUI arrest
Ceres Cop Car

Brian Flewellen, 46, of Walnut Creek, was arrested Sunday evening for drunken driving after he exited northbound Highway 99 at Fourth Street and failed to negotiate a stop and knocked over a street lamp pole.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:17 p.m.

Officer Vince Hooper arrived at the crash site at Fourth and El Camino. Flewellen's tan Nissan had smacked into the pole at the east curb line of El Camino just north of Fourth Street. The pole was down and the vehicle had moderate damage to the front. Hooper determined that Flewellen was speeding too fast for the wet roadway.

Hooper determined that Flewellen was intoxicated based on the smell of alcohol on his breath, being unsteady on his feet and blood-shot watery eyes. Flewellen denied he had been drinking. Flewellen was placed under arrest for DUI. He submitted to a breath test which revealed .16 BAC over twice the legal limit.

Flewellen was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for DUI.
