Dad allegedly shoots son in leg

A 35-year-old Ceres father is being sought by Ceres Police Department for allegedly shooting his 17-year-old son in the leg on Wednesday afternoon, March 25 after a possible argument.

Police were called at 1356 E. Whitmore Avenue at 3:25 p.m. after the teenager was shot in the thigh by a small caliber handgun. Ceres Police Department spokesman Lt. Chris Perry said that the family members, including the boy's mother and grandparents were initially uncooperative with officers. Perry said that the victim said that his father shot him and then fled.

Joel Gonzales Sr., 35, of Ceres, is wanted for assault with a deadly weapon.

The gun used in the shooting has not been located.
