Detectives seek clues in Olivero Road homicide

Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department detectives are seeking the public's help in piecing together events that led up to the fatal shooting of a Mexican national on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

The shooting took place at approximately 7 p.m. in the 300 block of Olivero Road in south Modesto. Jesus Chipres Linares, 43, was lying in the roadway with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Emergency medical personnel arrived and Linares was pronounced deceased at the scene. On the date of the homicide detectives attempted to locate witnesses that could help them determine what led to Linares death. They have been unable to find anyone and are asking for the public's help in identifying witnesses or potential investigative leads in the case.
